Job Title: Chief Electrician

Key Responsibilities:
• Carry out all electrical work within the drilling package, specified in the certificates and PPM job sheets.
• Maintain electrical power and F&G system.
• Carry out electrical repairs.
• Carry out all necessary electrical isolation and de-isolation duties within the drilling package and as per Permit to Work requirements.
• Stand by at critical drilling operations.
• Ensure all tools, equipment, machinery, PPE are available and in good working condition for the job to be done.
• Monitors materials and spare part consumption through MP5 in liaison with materials man.
• Implement and monitor preventive maintenance through MP 5.
• Liasing with the Toolpusher regarding maintenance/repairs and planning ahead so as to avoid the risk of delay through equipment breakdown.
• Compiling a concise handover book for his relief at crew change.

• Maintain, administer and update preventive maintenance system for rig equipment, i.e. histories, records, job cards etc.
• Carry out preventive maintenance routines following discussions with the Toolpusher.
• Maintain electrical machinery.
• Supervise/carry out immediate repairs and scheduled overhauls.
• Inspection of forklift truck and crane.
• Ordering materials and spare parts.
• Execution of the installation & disassembling of equipment during rig up and rig down.
• Maintain electrical machinery reports.

• Responsible for carrying out his work in line with HSE’s policy statement.
• Act as member of Drilling Emergency Response Team.
• Assist in accident/Incident investigation.
• Advise on electrical safety for rig/camp.
• Attend safety drills, safety exercises, safety meetings and TBT’s as required.
• Assist in accident/incident investigation.
• Hold TBT’s.
• Evaluate all work carried out to the requirements of the Permit-to- Work system, initiate Permits to work as necessary and ensure that all safety precautions are taken and only work is carried out stated in the Permit to work.

• Fluent in speech and writing in the English Language
• Occupational training Electrician 3-1/2 years, sufficient practice
• Must have sufficient knowledge of:
• -SCR technique
• -Generator system
• -AC/DC distribution
• -AC/DC motors
• -Fire detection system
• -Gas detection system
• -Communication system
• -Galley and Laundry equipment
• Periodical medical examination
